Impressed with bike rack!
« on: August 31, 2012, 11:43:00 PM »

Went off today to Thetford Forest, and I have to say very impressed with how the car handles with bikes on!  Four bikes today, but five tomorrow as going back again for some more muddy fun!

I picked up a Thule rack for £60 off ebay, and then changed the fitting kit to the Smart's.

They are Thule 754 rapid system with 1347 fit kit (which goes under the trid) andthen aero bars.  Very easy to fit and take off, and great with the bikes on the roof.

I picked mine up off Ebay for £60 and got the fitting kit from Halford's for about £20 (the bloke was selling them to fit a SAAB that he had, and hadn't thought of changing the feet  :P).  It carries 5 bikes (2 adult, 2 mid size and one small) very easily, and doesn't do much to the performance/ fuel consumption.

I drove down to the south of France and back with a roof box on mine, was absolutely fine. No problems at all.
