Hello there, I'm new to the forums and not to sure if I'm posting in the right place so if I am, sorry for any inconvenience

I have a smart car forfour, and when I turn my car on different things seem to not work, il turn my car on one day, and il have no lights, il turn my car on another day, the light will work but I won't have any power steering, il turn my car on another day, and il have no radio but the light and power steering will be working, I took it into a garage and they said it was the alternator, had them fit a new alternator, next day same problem, went back and they said that it was possibly a dodgy alternator they fitted and then fitted another, they've fitted 3 new alternators to this car before telling me they don't know what the problem is, has anyone heard about or had a problem like this? Thank for you help

That doesn't sound like an alternator issue to me, something very strange is going on with your electronics.

Is it completely random? As in could you turn it on now, and one thing wouldn't work, then turn it off and straight on again and something else might not work?

I'd get it to a smart indie garage and ask them to run it on their STAR diagnostics machine, which will help them pinpoint the fault.

It could be as simple as a loose earth cable, so check all your earthing points for a solid connection to the car and battery.

When was the battery replaced?

Earth cables check (battery to body and the engine to body)

Check to see if there is any visible issues with the fuse box behind the glove box (it's in a place that could get kicked I guess)

Any signs of why the fusebox was faulty?

Water ingress or anything like that?
