New front grill and number plate holder!
« on: April 30, 2016, 10:10:09 PM »

Sorry if I'm not meant to post this on hear, not really sure where else to post it.

But I managed to change the front grill and front number plate holder on my ForFour today from it being damaged from the previous owner and though I would share :D. Hope that's ok.

I would also like to thank CartoonHead for his topic 'How to swap your grill' made it much easier to change :).

Before:

During:

After :D :

Next I'm planing on sorting out the paint work on the bumper just waiting for a nice hot day to do it.

What do you lot think of daytime style lights? are they worth getting?

DRL style you mean....
Pro's and con's from lots of people really...but it really is a matter of
personal choice.  Ok if you are a dab hand with wiring TBH....
However...they are no longer the 'novelty' they once were....every car
has them.  Why not just change the front side light bulbs for LED versions
that are far far brighter, cheap as chips, and a straightforward swop ?

Personally i wouldnt bother with aftermarket daytime running lights. Go to mercedes and get them switched on like volvos, dip beam on and rear lights

yea, I did mean DRL style lights, Sorry.

I was thinking of getting LED lights for the front, But I kind of remember being told a few years ago that if you change any of your front lights to LED of the white style lights don't you need front light washers? Is this true? Sorry I'm not great with cars or car facts, This is all new to me.

There is a misconception that you need headlamp washers if you get HID bulbs

If you want DRLs then maybe pick up some fog light indicator units

Use the fog lights with LED bulbs and wire them to ignition live

Ok, Thank you.

That's not a bad idea, Thank you.

Are The Fog Light indicator units easy to get? At the moment my car doesn't have front fog lights it just has a indicator unit.  Sorry for all the questions I'm new to this and the whole fixing up the car. haha

Thank you for all the help though :)

Aquire the combined fog/indicator lights from ebay....cheaper than new.

Oh, and it can get confusing with all the 'techo speak' terminology being
batted about here there n everywhere....DRL's, LED's, HID's, CREE's...
let alone the other one's such as CANBUS, ECU, AMT, MAF, MAP etc etc
Fine if your a 'technofobe' or interested...but your average 'car is to drive'
type wouldn't understand or care about any of it.
