If you lock the car after you've had the lights on*, it will switch on the lights for 10seconds or so. That's the coming home feature.

mine doesn't do this - i have to do the double press but then i have auto lights

For me it's double press for coming home and one press on locking for leaving.The only thing is that sometimes leaving function doesn't work and I still didn't resolve why is that.

I'm confused reading the last post....
A 'lost in translation' language barrier thing...

On leaving the car:
1 press on the 'lock' button just locks the car.
2 presses on the 'lock' button turns on the 'coming home' lights
as well as locking the car if I remember correctly..
(been a long time since I have used that).

On going to the car:
1 press on the 'unlock' button unlocks the car
2 presses on the 'unlock' button unlocks the car and turns the lights on.

For the "coming home" function you got it right.Btw "coming home" is called because you approach the vehicle.For the "leaving home" function is when you actually leave the car and lock it.My only doubt was why the "leaving" function sometime didn't work,but one of you clarified that the lights on leaving/locking the car only work when you previously had your lights turned on.
