My car suffered a leak in the boot previously and I believe it has returned due to the way the car is parked. It is parked on a slight incline towards the left rear corner. I stripped the car back and it seems to be leaking at the bottom where it looks like a cream mastic substance? There is no leak from the rear light housing all I know is it must of been leaking for a while as the section where the spare sits ,was full of water. I have  heard you can drill a hole in the bottom to drain the water  and prevent it from filling up but is this wise? TIA

I'm sure more experienced heads will give you a better answer, but mine doesn't collect water, even on an incline - so I'd suspect there to be an excess water drainage channel somewhere which is blocked? Worth checking before you drill new drainage channels.

I've heard this is a typical issue on the doors of some cars - channel gets blocked, door fills with water. Just my 2c worth.

you need to sort where the water is coming in from and not just drill the spare wheel well.

if you say its coming from where the original sealant is, then id seal around that area, BUT double check by using a garden hose over the rear with the boot stripped to locate the source of the leak and use silicone sealant to seal where its coming from

Make sure it’s not the pipe to the rear wiper

Then take both lights off anyway

I have found the cause of the leak and it is leaking from the roof! The rear section is leaking slightly on both sides. I know the previous owner had a new roof fitted as he didn’t like the fading on the original roof. Not too sure how to resolve this now

Probably not the cheapest but might be the best option would be to get a windscreen replacement company to come and remove then refit the roof. They will be able to seal it properly. It’s what they do!

However, what puzzles me is that you say the previous owner
had the rear section replaced as he didn't like the fading !
If that is the case, then you must have an electric sunroof ?
as that is the only combo with polycarbonate rear and 'solid'
linered interior roof section.

A normal 'standard' Brabus has a polycarbonate front
(that does craze and fade) and a glass rear section...
and the glass does not fade.

They do stuff for caravans that finds leaks and moves into the cracks and seals - google it

Before spending hundreds taking the roof off and risking damage and not being able to clear up the mating surfaces properly I’d try a few diy options

As a question- JJ have you tried that stuff( see link above) out on the polycarbonate roof?I ask as it may get rid of improve appearance of the crazing that regularly appears on our 44's. Looks really useful.

No I haven’t but I’ve seen plenty of people use it for things like leaking windscreens

The crazing is a v different problem
