Gauging interest: USED Spax springs
« on: May 03, 2011, 01:02:40 PM »

Just seeing if there is any point selling my used Spax -30mm performance springs.
They are off a 1.3 semi-auto and been on for 18 months but due to a potentail move and
the recent rise in insurance premiums I am removing them.

If I were to sell them, it would be around the £75 (ovno) plus postage or could deliver,
say, around 60miles (or further if it fits in with my travels).

Dude, I practically gave mine away, so don't expect £75 for them, I'd say £50 maximum.
But, they are very good coils and broken in, so about what another 15mm lower than
stated ? I think they work well of a petrol, but the CDi one's bounce the front and become
very low after a thousand miles.

Good point, I am after anything above £50 really to break even. She was sitting far too
low for my liking and making the ride unbearable at times on the roads I drive on.

These do look good on a forfour and improve the handling a lot, really sharpens up the
front end feel.

Have to say that the Spax springs that I had on my CDi 'settled' to a tad lower than the 30mm they were supposed to be....
but I didn't get the front end bounce. I could put that down to the smaller profile tyres (17" rims) with less sidewall 'give'...
or that possibly the shock absorbers I had at the time were still good as the car had only just topped 33k miles before the
KW's coilovers got fitted ! !   :o

No reason why they wouldn't fit.

Only major difference is weight I guess, I think the Brab comes in at 1090kg, Petrols range from 965kg to 980kg and the Diesels 1085kg to 1090kg

So if you're after lowering a bit more on the cheap try the CDi Spax coils or maybe at a push the petrol ones should be fine.
