Exactly as Alex says - all newly built cars MUST come with self levelling and washers (just like ISOFIX and DRL's)

There's only one way for hids to be legal, they have to be in HID designed headlamps. No need for self leveling or washers really, as MOT says that IF they are fitted they must work. So not really a necessity. BUT if the headlight was not designed for a HID bulb, than no amount of self leveling and washing will make them legal.

correct me if in wrong but what your saying is, if the headlight has been designed for HID lights that will pass an MOT, so by my thinking, if the lights have been converted and that there is the correct beam pattern they should pass?

mr singh...there is a difference between 'designed' and 'converted'.
HID's give off a different beam pattern to halogen...so although they may appear to
give the correct beam pattern, there are differences, and some of those are that
certain 'conversions' did and do dazzle other road users....badly in some cases.
That is the reason why the MoT has changed...to outlaw 'conversions', even if
it means that there will be some that are (or appear to be) perfectly acceptable.

Anyway...we've gotten well off the gist of what this thread was about....'Used Brabus'
