B Service
« on: April 08, 2013, 07:18:45 PM »

Hello Folks

I've got 2 spanners on my screen which indicates to a B service, but would like to know whats the Full B service list? Can I do it myself? I,ve already changed the Standard filter to Pipercross Panel filter and got Castrol oil for it.

Can anyone recommend good garage for Smart forfour Brabus in West Midlands area?

I have also decided to Keep my Brabus and not sell it ;-

I've just order Grooved discs and Mintex pads from:

http://www.mtecbrakes.co.uk/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&zenid=&drop_1=SMART&drop_2=For+Four+Hatchback&drop_3=1.5+1499cc+Year%3A+04-&keyword=SMART+For+Four+Hatchback+1.5+1499cc+Year%3A+04-&submit=Search

This car is so addictive to Modify stuff

Wahoo sal - so happy for you :)

Plugs are the only really important thing missing from your list.

I disagree....
The really important thing that will be missing is the stamp in the
Service book.....and knowing it has had a proper diagnostics check.

How different is a star diagnostics from a normal OBD2 scanner?

Best indie i found in West Mids area is Smart Tecnic 1A Johnson Rd, Birmingham, West Midlands B23 6PU 0121 350 0026, or if you want genuine Merc history then Monarch Mercedes at Tamworth seem quite reasonable, but there again, if its genuine Merc you want you may find a dealer closer to you.

How different is a star diagnostics from a normal OBD2 scanner?

I saw the STAR up close the other week while my keys were being coded, and asked if the rain/light sensor could be isolated.  The STAR system "zooms in" to the relevant area, and lists any options (sadly not the one I wanted) and even said "Rain Sensor Faulty", even though the sensor has been unplugged for some time due to the fault.

Other than that, diagnostics on my car only show a CAN error to do with the stereo (which isn't in the car anyway).

An OBD reader would just tell me that the check engine light is off, and that no errors are stored.

Guys....
just to clariy a point re Smart independant garages....

These are garages that are fully authorised by MB/Smart as they use genuine Smart parts
and oils etc, and have a genuine Star diagnostics machine (its actually a software program
on a laptop/pc, licence for which is circa £10k a year ! and that connects to the MB/Smart
network). The work they do will not invalidate any warrantee from MB/Smart. They are also
authorised to stamp your Service book, and it will be accepted by MB/Smart if there are any
warrantee issues.

The difference between these and an MB/Smart Dealer is they won't have a fancy showroom,
or snobby salesmen, or smartly dressed receptionists, but they'll know their way round your
cars and how to repair it far better than nearly every MB 'technician'..(They won't
just unbolt one part and slap on a new one)...and their labour charge is around 1/2 of MB.

These are not just any old backstreet garage, so if you do find one that paports to be an
'authorised' independant, get them to show you their certificate or prove that they
are what they claim to be, otherwise steer clear of them.  If they are recommended by
another owner, and I mean 'well' recommended, then fair enough, but as has already been
said...they won't be 'authorised' to stamp your Service book to the satisfaction of MB/Smart.
