car theft ?
« on: January 04, 2015, 03:33:04 PM »

Hello all,

Happy new year, I have a question. I noticed that someone was put an AA battery on my windscreen while I was away on holiday. This is the second time it happened.

is this a mark used by car theft or a house burglary? or is it some kids just put it for fun?

Thanks,

Google didn't return any hits, so might be new trick but cannot be sure...

Ask neighbors if they have noticed something similar?

TBH not heard anything....my only thoughts are that
possibly someone is 'trying' to be funny... and implying
you may need batteries for your 'toy car'.

I've lost count of the number of comments made to me..
"when you going to get a 'real' car ?"....
"can't you afford a 'proper' car ?" .....
"where do the batteries go ?"....
"is this real or a toy car ?"....

whatever....

Re. Grahams comment, the feeling is mutual.
Even prior to the rebuild, I got those comments from work mates. Being in construction, the "lads" can be a bit crude. After taking a few out for a "spirited drive", they sharp shut up. Now I tell them about the rebuild (whether they want to hear it or not!) and they're looking forward to the finished results.
Some can't get over the snobbery of thinking a 100k car can be beat by something costing 8k (my purchase cost plus rebuild cost) with a smart badge on.
That's half the reason I've not got rid of the car tbh. It's quirky, rare and damn gorgeous in my opinion. If the haters want to troll with ignorance, more fool them!
