Brabus turbo part number

The company's I have been in contact with to build a hybrid turbo for my Brabus needed the part number so they could give me a quote on stage 1, stage 2, and stage 3.

Ok....
What is their definition of Stage1, 2, and 3 ?
And dare one ask the name of the company ?

Have you looked around at well known turbo specialists,
like TurboTechnics ?
I presume you are aware that some parts may not line up as
they did originally...as in boost actuator mounting and even
the exhaust exit pipe, so be prepared for additional work/costs
to resolve any of those issues.

why would they not line up?

surely they are just looking at what they can machine out of the inside of the 2 x OEM halves so they can fit non OEM compressor/turbine?

the flanges should remain the same?

i would have thought it would be easier to look at a non OEM turbo and modify the manifold?

I've already asked about a none OEM turbo if it can be done but it gets into silly money a tuners No.1 word is used (CUSTOM)  meaning 5 times upwards the normal price , custom manifold, custom down pipe ,  custom radiator as no room for the bigger turbo . Unless you have really deep pockets , and I don't it's not worth it for the gains it can be done Danny from H-Tec Elete is running a none OEM TD05 on his drag car with excellent results. I did ask the guys who build the hybrid turbos about the stock /hybrid all lining up ok and they said yes . JJ is right it's the internals that are machined out and uprated, uprated bearings and bigger wheels I can not give full specs yet I am sure for stage 3 they talked about modifying manifold will find out I deffo will not be going for stage 3 money is tight now.

I had a reply from them a tad to steep, al keep looking thanks for thinking about my options.

They replied .

We have done a stage one hybrid to one of these units before. This included a uprated compressor wheel, cut back turbine blades, 360°thrust kit and full rebuild.
The cost for this is £681.78+vat.
We could do a stage two hybrid this would be the same as stage one but with a larger turbine wheel.

I wouldn't have mentioned parts not lining up etc if I didn't
have a reason to, and by that I meant using parts from other
turbo's rather than splashing out great wads of cash to have
the original housing/s machined to fit around bigger turbine blades.

Often than not, the original housings cannot be used as there is
not enough 'meat' on them to remove/open them up to, so that
they'll do the job and clear the turbine blades, hence why you will
see references to using TD04/TD05 turbo's and/or parts of them
by tuners/modifiers as they can be used as simple swaps without
any expensive machining work being required...saving money.
However.....if you use non-Brab/Smart parts like the TD04/TD05,
then bolt holes for things like mountings or actuators won't be in
the same places as the original Brab turbo, ok.

Does that make the 'picture' a little clearer now ?

Musmart can and will tell anyone of some of the pitfalls that there
are; or can be; on that score as he has already been down that path.

but he was talking hybrid

adding a non OEM turbo will require the manifold and elbow building bespoke or modifying as a turbo off another car defo won't line up  :P

The TD04 is laggy on the colt. Sg guys complained it struggled to build up boost but when boost came it was really strong. Ideally what you should do is run the stock TF035 turbo housing and swap out the compressor with that of a TD04 from a WRX (Hybrid). This will not only allow you to keep your stock manifold and dump pipe but will allow your engine a potential of about 150-170kw atw. This is currently what i (the author) plan to do as its not as laggy as some of the other turbo options that are listed above.

I did say TD04/TD05 turbo OR parts of ....as in hybrid !

As in what musmart has and used, and why I mentioned
it is worth talking to him re the pitfalls etc.

Oh, and the Kinugawa uses the standard TF035 exhaust housing,
but a custom made inlet housing of similar spec as the TD04 hybrid.
At roughly 1.2 bar it can push out 260bhp..... (S2 racing Brab).
At 1.5bar there is the potential (with a few other mods) for 300.

not in your initial post - just trying to clarify.

 ...the thing is, i would hope no one would pay for (or company would deliver) a turbo that has a different fitment and expecting it to fit.

I know that john just wants to swap out the OEM turbo with a hybrid (i.e. td35 outer with uprated blades)

sorry - wasn't trying to undermine what you said - just didn't understand the initial statement and we want to give people the most accurate info.
