Which one do you prefer?
« on: July 24, 2016, 09:35:41 PM »

So, there my forfour was, parked up... and when I came back to it there was a puzzled lady owner who had parked her brand new forfour Prime next to mine. 'I didn't see any of those in the dealer when I went to buy mine,' she said. 'I like it a lot.' So, I told her what mine was and that if her new one was anything like as good as mine has been over the last ten years then... la la la! I am warming to the 2nd generation forfour but I can't stand the white interior! Just horrible. IMHO of course. And I know that I'm biased but I did think that mine had the edge in the looks stakes.   ;)

If they made them with a bigger power plant that could be tuned I would go for one when the ass falls out on them , keeping my MK 1 of course ;).

I can't ever see myself having a W453 - the doors are steel not plastic on them (for safety apparently) which beaks with the ethos I think. I don't feel that my plastic panelled 454 is any less or more dangerous than that. With that said, I like the 899cc turbo engine in them but... nah.

Good picture Brabs  ..... I know I'm biased but seeing them side by side like that really does reinforce my view  that ( to me and I suspect many others ) ours are the better looking cars and the new one is the ugly duckling  ( or maybe they look like a bulldog that ran into a wall ) .

I agree with mr singh.....
The Twingo still looks prettier front end wise....and if
I had to buy either I'd get the Twingo..just for
the look of it alone...and then maybe swap badges !

The Gen.1 looks more 'planted' on the road, has a better stance,
has more flowing lines, and 'appears' far more aerodynamic.
TBH, the Gen.1 is a timeless design...in my humble opinion.

It would be interesting to get both side by side and 'try them for fit'
to see if the Gen.2 has more or less interior space, passenger wise.

Yes it would be interesting. The Gen 2 however has lost the versatile rear sliding seat option. It also doesn't have 'proper' opening rear windows.  :-X

Lower it, map it....

I let my C453 to a friend with a tuned 451 Brabus (120ish hp) and she said my stock 90hp felt faster. A map takes them to 120ish & buckets of torque. Paul's switched his 454 Brab for one & doesn't complain but he does sulk that the 125hp transit custom seems slower than the 150hp Vito...

Hmm. Lower, it map it and saw off the front! Possibly controversially I quite like the Renault Capture. Stylish car IMHO. I am becoming concerned about the over complication of new cars with Stop-Start etc. Lots to go wrong. Ok whilst under warranty but after that?! Mechanic friend of mine is working on a four year old BMW MINI Cooper D. Just over 100,000 miles. New clutch and dual mass flywheel. £1500 ish. Timing chain snapped. New exhaust valves, gasket set, chain, pulleys and tensioner. £1500 ish. And that's not BMW labour rates! BMW weren't interested in any kind of 'goodwill' gesture.  :-X
