Ouchhhh ! !
« on: May 10, 2011, 11:03:25 PM »

'In the early hours of Monday morning some young tearaway (f#@kwit) who thought
he was Lewis Hamilton or Jensen Button tore out from the road between the flats
across from my house and slammed into the right rear wing of my car !
I heard a thump of sorts from my bedroom and the sound of what I thought was someone's door mirror being clipped, and when I went outside (I was awake as had
only finished night shifts Sunday morning) I only checked the mirrors and they were
fine. So imagine my horror to discover the damage in the full light of day this morning  ! !
There are very deep score/gouge marks (above the swage line as well as the more
obvious marks below that line)...

I have a momento of the idiots car, it being a foglight surround...but I don't know what
car it is from. I've had to push/clip the wing back into place, but the foam bumper
absorber inside has shifted as the inner arch is about 3/4" adrift from the outer edge
of the wheel arch.....so it looks like I've no option other than to take the whole rear
end off to sort it. I'm estimating £200 - £300 to get it filled n sprayed back to spec.
Dammed if I'll claim on my insurance.
I hate weekends...all the young lunatic speed merchants are out and about till the
early hours, showing off to each other and their giggling girlfriends. Tins of beer/lager,
yelling and screaming abuse, squealing tyres, big noisey exhausts, and gut thumping
stereo's. Small wonder they can't drive properly. '

Dam that's pretty nasty, sorry to see this has happened.

Time to wander around the flats and look which car has hit yours then report them.

Time to wander around the flats and look which car has hit yours then report them.

Already done that tonight....and no car with any damage or missing foglight trim ring.
I reckon it's a boyfriend or a weekend visitor.  And besides...it would then be finding which flat
the person was in...and getting them to cough up.
As for reporting it....to who ?  The Police won't give a fig as no personal injury involved in the accident.
As for insurance...would be one company 'fighting' another and the other driver saying it wasn't him.

I think a 45 Magnum waved under someone's nose might just work though  :o :o :o

Sod telling someone - just remove all the wheels and put a note under the windscreen saying you have taken payment for the damage caused ;)

Obviously I'm joking - anyone got CCTV on your street or the reservoir at the end?

If you do see the car, leave a note on it stating that they hit you and suggest they contact you.

They may come clean and pay up if its a young person, wouldn't want you to go to the insurance people so they might get scared.

Sorry, but look at the bright  side that was not a vag car or other nationality , so the back just deform and come back at the original shape ;) so you just have to painted back without replacing any part, like at other cars happens ;)
The coin will flip and be sure that police will take care :D

that looks bad, but the worst bumps are often the easiest to repair!
you could always fill the arch and paint it. would work out cheaper than buying a rear arch plus painting.

Bad news.....it doesnt look too bad when you first see it, but on checking the Tridion
behind that right corner is buckled and will need 'pulling' to get it back into shape/line
as the inner arch no longer meets the wing and the foam bumper pad behind the
bumper is also damaged. So the estimated repair cost has now topped over £500 !
And that includes repairing the original wing ! !

Retribution (aka brakus fluidus) will be liberally applied to the culprits vehicle when found.

Damage as revealed when bumper and nfoam absorber pad removed.....

With S2Smarts help we managed to 'reshape' it back to orig...and then liberally
splashed it with sealant and paint before re-assembling it.

Sorry to see such damage to the pride and joy. This sort of thing makes my blood boil. I do feel that the incident needs reporting to the Police regardless of our inbuilt scepticism that anything will be done. Even though nobody has been injured it's still an offence to leave the scene of an accident.
We can't be aware of any local initiatives that the local plod are working on and who is being watched. This particular nasty piece of work could have been involved in something else down the road and this incident could play a part in the conviction. I would report the incident and get a crime number and hand over the souvenir as well. This is the sort of thing they can give to the plastic plod who can be looking in a wider area. Also maybe the bloke could be visiting a girlfriend and may show up this sunday night for another go. If a car is at at the flats and is missing the foglight surround a quick call to the Police and it's on file so they should be round quick enough for a collar. If you do manage to get somewhere and the bloke is uninsured then it's a claim to the Motor Insurers Bureau who pay out for uninsured drivers. Not reporting this sort of thing to me is not an option because the Police love to quote low figures and I believe they should get the pressure. After all they can always find the time to set up a speed trap on a sunday morning when the locals are driving to the shop for a paper.

BB :)

Thats not nice.  :(

There are far too many w*$kers around. I hope he come off worse than you.

Post a pic of the surround. Perhaps it can be identified , then you have ahead start on what your looking for.

Have already identified the fog light surround as coming from an early Ford Mondeo.
Dark blue in colour.  And judging by the amount of crap on the road around my car
at the time..including other panel bits (of the Ford) I'd say the front left of the bumper
and the wing were well n truly stuffed.
A friend down the road who collects scrap/damaged/accident cars reckons the
Mondeo will be ditched/dumped, and def not be seen around this area again.
I've been looking around and I haven't seen an early damaged dark blue Mondeo anywhere.
So it's possibly been driven away and hidden in a garage..or dumped and torched.
