Brabus' Brabii Brabs
« on: May 25, 2011, 08:51:09 PM »

Not sure what you would call more than Brabus hence the title.

However got to thinking today after reading the thread on the remapped Forfour Brabus. The other Smart Brabus derivatives do they have similar power upgrades or are they all show and no go.
The forfour and roadster values seem to have held up but the Fortwo is dirt cheap.

you can get maps for the other BRAB models.....
and you CAN get a map for the forfour BRAB, but i've never seen any info to back up
the claims (and for £500 - i wanna see proof)

the trouble with cost is.....price of map development divided by number of cars.
once you have broken even, you can charge less as its all profit.

however, selling none @ £500 is worse than selling 10 @ £200

its the spanish beach jetski principle ;)

Good question that....I guess you could say it's like sheep....the plural of sheep is sheep....
yeah ok you can say a flock....of sheep.  But you can't have a flock of Brabus...derrrr  !!!!
So maybe it is a group of Brabus'   (pronounced Brabus -es)...or a gathering of Brabus'.
Or just plain ol.....them Brab's    :D :D :D

.....However got to thinking today after reading the thread on the remapped Forfour Brabus. The other Smart Brabus derivatives
do they have similar power upgrades or are they all show and no go.
The standard ForTwo uses a lower spec engine and gearbox.
The Roadster and the Brabus ForTwo share powerplants/gearboxes.
The cam profile is different, the TIK pipe is bigger, injectors are bigger, the turbo is
bigger, the gearbox ratios are different, the suspension, wheels, exhaust, in fact
nearly everything is different.
And then there is the extra special Roadster, the Brabus 101 with 101 bhp.
That uses an water to air intercooler with a separate radiator for that at the front.
(Normal Roadster/ForTwo use an air to air intercooler)

The 450 ForTwo's prices vary considerably, bearing in mind the early ones were 600cc,
and the later ones 700cc (the 700cc is a much better engine and exhaust manifold).
The Brabus versions have the stronger and more powerful engine and seem to last
much longer than the non-Brabus cars.
Secondhand price depends on spec/year/mileage/condition, if it has a full Service
History, or just how quick someone wants to sell it.
So yes...prices do vary and since the 'new' model 451 ForTwo came out the price has
obviously dropped.

The new 451 ForTwo's are 999cc and there are non turbo'd and turbo'd versions.
Range topper is the Brabus of course.
BUT....the difference on this model is the suspension, brakes, 'bling', turbo, exhaust,
and the engine map.
The basic engines and gearboxs are all the same on the 451 models.

The ForFour and Roadster appear to hold their price due to a few simple things....
scarcity as they were only produced for a short period, and also because once people
have them and experience them they don't readily let them go, as there is nothing
around quite like them !

correction the brabus 101 has 101 PS (German horsepower) not 101 BHP, it has 98 BHP if my conversion is correct
same with the 451 brabus 112 it has 112 PS and about 109 BHP
Logged
Fortwo MK3 (2007-2010) Top speed 85 MPH. maxed* 98 MPH
Forfour 1.1 (2010-2015) Top speed 103 MPH. maxed* 110 MPH
Forfour 1.5 SB3 (2015>) Top speed 118 MPH. maxed* 122 MPH
Jaguar XF S 3.0TDV6 (11/21-06/22) never to be maxed
Jaguar XF S 3.0TDV6 (07/22>) Top speed 155MPH

Cheers for that what a brilliant explanation  ;D
