Service time
« on: September 17, 2011, 10:59:16 AM »

The cars been reminding me for almost 3 weeks now that it's due a service very soon.
I would like to avoid taking it to mercedes but want to get a it done properly.

Can anyone recommend anywhere in Bristol?

I've got a very good garage I currently use - people I know from work but I'm weighing it up.

JJ would tell you to try Smart/MB at Bristol.....as he is from that area and has used them.
But alas...the lad is sweating it out in sunny Cyprus.....(lucky devil), so he can't tell you himself.

S2smarts is a bit far from you....otherwise I'd second that suggestion.
(they are usually fully booked for up to 2 weeks in advance..)

Thanks for youe comments.
Where does everyone choose to take their cars for servicing? To Smart/Mercedes or to a local garage?
Maybe more specific to where they take if they have a Brabus?

I've not actually taken mine for a full service since I bought it- it's probably not the wisest thing to admit to but hey! I need to- I always say if they find something on the MOT then I will but to be fair, we do all the basics that the service does anyway (changing spark plugs, oil etc).

Phoned smart in Bristol who quoted me £300 for small service plus spark plugs.. well I expected it to be expensive but not quite so expensive!

So going to get the guys I know and trust to service it for now.

They've asked if it has a sump bung? Thought that was a strange question but either way I haven't had chance to get under and have a look so does anyone know if it has?

Thanks

Thats mad!!

i had a B service inc plugs for £320

an A service should be around £150 (but that will be plus plugs as they are quite expensive)

there is a post on here about where to get the plugs from - don't settle for anything else....

I changed my plugs at around 50.000 miles and they were perfectly fine, then again at 80k miles and were perfectly fine again but i wanted to switch to Denso iridium. No difference at all in fuel consumption or engine power. Have them check yours before you buy them, yours should be fine too if the engine is running well.

Still, 300 pounds is a lot, what do they change for that money? Oil, all 3 filters and a aux belt is no more than 60-70 pounds. And 60 pounds for iridium spark plugs...so more than half is labor? For what, a one hour job?
