Brab is due service soon, but I can't find our service book and can't remember what service is due!! Grrrrr!!

Anyhow, I seem to recall that the book says if the car's due an 'A' service, the dash will show one spanner and if it's 'B' that's due, it'll show two spanners.

This is the first time it's been due a service since we've had the car, so does anyone know if the book is telling the truth?!!  - Our service indicator is showing a single spanner, but just wanted to check re the one/two spanners before I book it in!

Also - anyone know a good place to get the car serviced within a sensible drive from Horsham, Sussex area?

How old is the car and what mileage does it have? Because services i think go A B A B etc. So if the miles and years back up the single spanner on the dash, than it's clear

Car is an 05 plate, about 40,000 miles I think

If it's six years old than although the spanner indicates an A service you should look into what has been changed so far, maybe it's time to do some overlooked items, although the miles haven't yet reached that point. Like belts, they get old with time and can snap, causing much bigger problems. And maybe the spark plugs should be checked and their gap adjusted. Also brake fluid and coolant have to be checked for boiling point/density and replaced if necessary. It's important to do all these little things if they haven't been done in the last 2-3 years. The brab being a performance car, puts more stress on all components, and if all is not in tip top condition, than things may fail or wear out prematurely.

Just to update - I can confirm that the dash does show two spanners when the B service is due - that's what ours is now showing after having the A done

Not always milage being a factor in belts snapping .. My car has done only 28k serviced every year in Feb  & the Alternator belt snapped a few weeks ago .. then the head gaskett went

Baggy is 100% correct there....
The usual criteria is mileage or age for changing cam belts.

To give you an example...a female companion and I have just collected from a VW
dealer a VW Polo 'Dune' that she bought. It is a late 07 plate...with under 20k miles.
VW state that cambelt is to be changed at 80k miles or 4years. So the dealer changed
the cam belt before they sold it to her.  Great for her...80k miles or 4 years with no
worries. (and no bill to pay...though I reckon it was in the selling price...which was ok)

Horsham?  As well as Sash in Guildford, talk to Sussex cars, down near Worthing or Shoreham I think.
