forfour Brabus windscreen wipers
« on: January 20, 2012, 10:24:46 PM »

Just a couple of questions about the wipers...

1) Front wipers have 3 settings - intermediate, 1, and 2.  1 and 2 work fine, but if I set it to intermediate it wipes every now and then, but with no obvious pattern.

Sometimes it waits a couple minutes or longer before having a go.  Is this an automatic thing, that wipes whenever the windscreen needs it?  It sometimes doesn't seem to want to wipe at all in this setting.  My Micra has an auto wiper setting, which reacts well to the amount of rain falling.  This one seems a lot less useful.

2) Rear wiper - sometimes when I put the car in reverse, the rear wiper goes off, even though it's turn off at the stalk.

I noticed this today, after the car had a spray of dirt up the back, again suggesting it's an automatic thing due to the rear window being dirty, and I'm supposedly looking out the back as I'm in reverse....

Is this normal?

Yup - if you have the auto lights/wipers

(if you do, you will have a big plastic cover below your rear view mirror)

I leave mine on inter all the time. Same with lights on auto!

And the rear one seems to come on in reverse if sensor thinks it should - although mine does it when it's bone dry too ;)

Good news - I wasn't sure, cos the Micra actually says "AUTO" next to the intermittent setting on the stalk.

There's a plastic cover behind the rear view mirror, and looks like a wire going through a plastic tube so that must be it.  Obvious really ;)

I have the cdi model and no auto wipers. When I put it in reverse, my rear wiper goes off by itself if my front wipers are on (in any setting).

Our little beauties have loads of 'mod-cons', (that I reckon a lot of peops aren't aware of),
some that are not standard or even available as an 'extra' on other makers cars !

Based on the fact the car was from early-mid 2004

Twin face arm rest
Sliding/tipping rear seat
Glass roof
Trimmed dash
Rear wiper thing
Coming home lights
Alarm with interior deactivate (I'm clutching at straws here... Haha)

You are clutching at straws  :P

My 2003 Micra (not top of the range) has come home lights, sliding rear seat, interior alarm disabler, and various cupholders and pockets hidden about ;)

Nothing as cool as the reverse wiper thing.

Ok...so I was generalising...but overall, it's only the odd one or so cars that had some
or maybe all of the features that the ForFour had....back in 2004.
