Just imagine.....3 Brabus For Fours.....
one on red tyres...one on white...and one on blue....
they could do their rendition of the Red Arrows and do tyre burn outs while drifting
round the display circle at The SmartFest ! !

Yeah right !   But if it ever happened, it sure would be so darn  8)

wooooaaaahhh!!

really??? one of the most beautiful 4x4 "wanna be's" ever (its probably actually really good off road if its the 4WD version)! its stunning.......beyond stunning.

whats not to like???  :P

JJ

Well, firstly because it's a wannabe - like you said.

I like landys and rangers, in fact I love them. I have had a great time in many a landy, from driving on off road tracks to doing powerslides, donuts and figures of 8 in several feet of snow...

I am not a fan of the new plastic fantastic wannabe versions. The ones made more as fashion accessories for chelsea mums and rappers.

The most that car is ever going to go off road is when it goes over the speedbumps to get into Waitrose. Plus, it looks disgusting.

How about the range rover sport??

I think the design is stunning (opinion)

So many intricate styling cues :)

The Evoque (or however it is spelt), I dont really like the look of, but I am reluctant to form an opinion on yet, as I have never even been in one, let alone driven one, or put through its paces off road.

The reason I say this is that before I drove a Range Rover Sport, I gave them a good slagging off.  "Gone soft" I said, "Give me a full fat range rover anyday"

Then I had the opportunity to drive one.  Only a short distance on the road, but then a few hours in the mud.  Now the "Sport" is in the "I will own one of those one day" box for me.

I own (but annoyingly, hardly ever get time to use) a 20 year old range rover heavily modified for off roading.  It has been modified to the extent where it is a crap "on road" car, but awesome off road.

The sport, which I originally dismissed as a fashion item, on road tyres was almost as good off road as my 20 year old truck.  With decent tyres, it would be better.  Obviously, as a "car" which is mainly sold to rich Mums & footballers, it is pretty good on-road.

When I read in the press about the electronics the sport has I was very skeptical (why would a decent off road driver want electronics?).  Having used them, I was seriously impressed.  (They do of course mean that muppets will be able to get even more stuck, but there is no saving muppets from themselves).

I dont know "sod all" about the Evoque, other than I really dont like its styling.
After my experience in the sport, I dont want to be too quick to slag off the Evoque until I have given it a proper try.

All that being said, I totally agree with what Dunc has said. However, i know in my heart of hearts I would never be happy driving a rooney rover off road when I could be driving a Defender , G-Class or even a jacked up pickup.

I think the Evoque, the range rover & sport, the new discovery and even the new freelancer are all lovely lookin cars (even more so when compared to others in their class)

Sod off road capability - can't slate a cars looks because it would be poor off road!

If someone said that I could pick between a jacked up L200 or an Evoque - no contest. If you drove a new range rover sport in proper off road then you have more money than sense because I have done that in a few 4x4s and they always get a ding here and there ;)

I also like the Kia sportage for its design from Kia who are normally so poor at design, they have taken a really  big step in the right direction :)

Kia sportage, IS a good looking car, no doubt, the joke was it's off road capabilities.

The sportage could actually turn a head, maybe :D

No problem JJ, when the man hands out money, you can have an evoque and I will have my lifted Dodge Ram SRT-10 - With the 8 litre dodge viper engine :)
