Does anyone have details of any smart specific insurance? Or just cheap insurance?

No, and it depends a lot on where you live, your anual milage / use / claims history etc.

You are after a Brabus, which is a specialist car, so I would start with a specalist insurer, such as Adrian Flux, Kieth Michaels, Egger Lawson, Compertition Car Insurance, or similar.  There are loads out there.

I certainly did... Got a great deal, but just found out that you can't share no claims so could have an issue! Now have two cars with only one lot of NCD.

Obviously it will be cheaper to use the no claims on the BRABUS and suffer the consequences with my Mazda, just a shame the consequences are £700!

Pick it up next Saturday, I'm far to excited, what a fantastic piece of machinery!

Not the dreaded admiral, they quoted £6000! The seller also suggested msm, I'm just awaiting a reply.

Sainsbury's also do multicar underwritten by Churchill.  We get a fuel 5p off a litre for each car we have insured with them.

Gearbox seams fine, clutch was slightly slipping in 1st gear, should be alright for a good few miles yet though. But the car in general was a great bit of fun. Slight noise when full lock was on... Possible bearings?

Definitely   give MSM a try ,  as JJ says they specialise in smarts  ,  I've been with them for 7 years  and no one has ever beaten  their  price  , also I'd say that something like  90% of the people I've advised to give them a try have gone on to use them .

You may be able to find a company that will "mirror" your no claims for the second car.  I know someone who did that recently.

Also, do you have a partner, who is a named driver on your Mazda, and who will be on the Brabus as well?
Try putting one of the cars in their name, pointing out that as they have been a regular driver on the policy, they have prooved their driving ability as evidenced by you not making a claim.

As Brulaw has already mentioned, defo give MSM a go.
After many years of driving and having Smarts I've found no one else can match them
and I have 4 of my Smarts insured with/thru them + my NCB is covered across the lot....
(after all, I can only drive one at a time).
Most definitley mention that you are a member of this website & even TheSmartClub,
as we/they prefer clients to be associated with them. (for some reason it sort of shows
them that you are an enthusiast and 'care' for your car rather than it's just a lump of metal).

I've heard that their e-mail response is a bit slow, but I've never had any problems by phone.
They're a small famly business and they're a nice group to deal with. Give them a bell.

how does one know when the clutch is slipping in first?
the best way to diagnose a slipping clutch, put the engine under load. put the car in 5th at 30mph and floor it, once the car comes on to boost the engine will rev up but the speed wont increase.

For the first time MSM had managed to beat my annual renewal quote on my insurance.

Be aware that they only work Monday-Friday 09:00-17:00 (so if you do work these hours, you'll need to ring them in your lunch break) and they charge 2% for credit card payments.

Thankfully even with the 2% credit card charge (which I loathe paying) it still worked out cheaper and offered more cover than my previous insurer. Although I cannot fault my previous insurer (Herts)- they just didn't want to budge on their price because I had moved to Luton...
