Abandoned for 2 months
« on: May 14, 2012, 03:19:40 PM »

So, in March I have a phone call from the boss.  We have a new job.  How quickly can you get to Heathrow, and are you available for 6 days (like I can say "no", its my job).  Less than 12 hours later I was on a plane.

As it was only 6 days, rather than get a taxi, I drove, and left the Brabus in a long term car park I have often used before near Heathrow.  Its secure, and it is full of expensive motors, so I dont have a problem with leaving my pride & joy there.  Besides, the company pay.

The job didnt go to plan, and I flew home yesterday, the Brabus having been in the car park for almost 2 months.
Did it start?
It was covered in bird cr+p and it had a flat tyre.

I walked up to it, and pressed the key.  It unlocked.  One flash of the indicators, as normal.
I opened the boot to get the jack and space saver.  The interior light came on as normal.
I think its the first time I have ever had a puncture in daylight in the sun, changing the wheel was almost a pleasure.

Got in, turned the key.  What do you reckon?

Burst into life and settled down into its normal (for cold) fast idle as though it had just been left for a few hours.

Cannot complain about that

Apart from the birds excrement and dirt and flat tyre.....good to hear you are
back in good old Blighty mate.

I'm off to France on Thursday...05:15am ferry from Dover to the French Smart Spring Meet.
Chat when I get back....hopefully I'll have some nice pictures to upload.

Well, I was back at home.  For 19 hours.

Round the opposite side of the world now!!  Long story.

Must be back for the weekend as I have a family wedding & will be well upset if I miss it (as will bride & groom).

I did get a taxi this time, as I didnt fancy doing a return trip to Heathrow on a space saver...

I was really pleased it started, although I know it should have had a flat battery, I just had a feeling it would be OK.  This car has never not started, or let me down.  It just doesnt do that (other than wheels / tyres, but I am getting good at changing them now.....)

Wow, that's very impressive! It just goes to show the value of regular long journeys to the battery etc.
