TYPICAL!..Heatwave and Sunroof packs in
« on: May 26, 2012, 02:27:06 PM »

just 2 days after buying my FF the sunroof decides to pack in >:(
on pressing the button all that happens is you hear a clacking sound as though the motor is trying but its missing the cable or the gears aren't engaging . Should i be worried ?..i can do most things myself , but not having a workshop manual i'm unfamiliar with the workings of the FF sunroof ...............obviously the headlining has to be dropped but any other advice greatly appreciated

TBH I don't think anyone has 'dropped' the headlining....
I've never heard it mentioned by anyone... even before we started
this website, so....dare I say, you could be THE FIRST !

There is no workshop manual for these cute little beauties, so my only
advice would be to take your time and be patient while doing it....
and take masses of pictures and notes every step of the way so that
eventually you can put build up a 'HowTo' to put in the Technical section of Interiors !

If that all seems a little daunting and you decide to give it to an
'indie' to fix, ask if you can be 'present' to take photos as they proceed.
(They may not like the idea of that, but say its for your own records,
then make up a HowTo later...tehehe)

The manual has something on faulty sliding roofs, but about recalibrating when they don't open close far enough, not when they don't open at all. Page 206

There is a process in the booklet about resetting it but I'm not sure if that deals with no movement.

Fuses etc??
