Hello,

Although I've had my car a little while, I've not done much delving in to the forfour facts and figures and different models, etc.

I am aware that Smart released a "Black Edition" of some sort. Was this car a special edition petrol only model, or was it just any car that has black panels/body? It might be a silly question for those in the know, but my car is a CDi 68bhp Pulse and it has black panels/body, but I'm assuming mine isn't a Black Special Edition?

I've always thought that the 'Black Edition' was the all black 1.1 Passion

I was under the impression it was a later model alongside the cool style.

I have it now...from the Parker website...
It was the 1.1  manual with a quoted 75bhp output . Made 01 Sep 2004 - 30 Jun 2006.

Specification was a cross between the Pulse and the Passion....HOWEVER....as with all ForFours
it could be ordered with any amount of extras that one wanted, so it might be quite hard to pin
down what the exact basic spec car came equipped with.  (Fox will add to this I'm sure....)

Thanks guys, I thought that would be the case.

So, mine is a 1.5CDi Pulse 68 that just happens to be black with black then.

I hasten to add that Parkers should be taken with a pinch of salt.

My understanding of the Black Edition is that it was a launch model with the interior trim of the Pure with some of the specs of the Pulse. It came with a 1.1 75bhp petrol engine, all black exterior with the basic cloth interior, white plain no pattern of the Pure.

I sometimes wonder if they over ordered on the black paint and some accountant
said paint as many with the black as possible...to get their monies worth 
(it would explain the abundance of all black Forours in my opinion.....not just the Black Edition)

Black edition is a 1.1, black panels and black trid.

Solid black roof, no air-con, front and rear discs, basic radio, two front speakers with no tweeters installed, base interior with no lounge concept plastic seat backs. Mine has a light grey interior which counteracts the black panels nicely. 14" steel wheels as standard and has no pillar badges marking it as any edition. It's just black. Mine is a 54 plate. Only 'extras' mine came with was a set of rubber smart branded mats.

I went for another black edition but it sold before I could get to it. It had added extras, including air con, speaker pack and alloys - basically turning it into a black passion.
