MOT time
« on: June 01, 2012, 05:56:16 PM »

had my MOT done today at Mercedes of Leeds at the cost of £30 and a diagnostic investigation check of £49 for the metallic rattle from the pulley side of the engine and an unknervy knock from the front that started on Wednesday.
it was booked in for 10:45 and i got there 15 min early and when i left it was about 1:30ish, and the total bill came to ZERO ???!!! ZIP, NOTHING, NAWT! the receptionist who wasn't a good looking lass but a very smart lad sad that he'll do it for free because of the wait ;D... result or what! PLUS they replaced both number plate bulbs for free as well to pass it. i know many people would slag mercedes of for lack of service and being expensive but im chuffed to bits!

What a nice story :)

We do sometimes need to remember that the faceless, shameless companies are often fronted by kind, human people.

I work in a dealer (not mercedes I must add) and it really is true that making customers as happy as you were made today is key these days. I'm sure you'll tell people, you already have, and probably go back there too.

People make any business, but when it comes to retaining customers, it is the only way to survive.

Great news that they looked after you so well! A real result getting your car MOT'd for another year, always a good feeling to get that sorted.

Have to say I've always found the Watford parts people very friendly, if not amazingly knowledgable of the forfour, especially the brabus.

Never used their service department though.

the know what the un-kervly know was, it was due to me having the front wheels off and not fully tightening one of them, my bad. as for the rattle on the pully side they advised on the health check that one of the heat sheald's was rattleling... which kinda fits as the rattle stops when it gets warm.
they also advised the r/f anti roll bar link slight play, both top damper mounts with slight play and the r/r lower spring rubber mount split, but they said its not enough to advise on the MOT and not enough to warrent changing them.

Wow that was very thorough of them. And it was good that they were just advisories and not you will need doing just yet- there are some places that poke around with rubber gators and the like, damaging then then say that needs doing, when it can still be watched.
