My biggest fear currently is the gearbox, it just needs to last at least 2 months.

mine is gurrently at 86,000 miles and its going up every day by 50+ miles
Nowts wrong with the 'box, still going strong (touch wood). It's because its a softouch and the issues that have been reported from other forfourers recently with selecting gears and the syncro failing. The car is worth so little now (I barely got anything for part ex value) that if the gearbox fails I can only sell it for scrap and find the money to fill in the gap.
Somehow my forfour is still running on the same shocks; only had the discs and pads done once; only recently developed the reverse "quirk"; I think the alternator is on the way out; no issues with TVA (touch wood); door cables never been an issue (again touch wood); wheel bearings still going. Overall she has done well covering the 95k miles I have driven her.
So I am treating her very delicately over the next few weeks, avoiding over using auto mode (I think this could be the issue to failing gearboxes tbh), reducing the amount of miles I cover (not going very well on that front) and generally taking care until I get to hand her over.
