It was a lovely morning to...
« on: July 24, 2012, 11:09:02 AM »

... do an Interim oil and filter change on the Brab'. So, before it got too hot it was out with the ramps, socket set, gloves, rags, drainer can, filter, sump plug washer and oil. About 40 min's start to finish. Then shower, cup of tea and put my feet up for a while followed by the obligatory test blast 8). Job done ;).

From smart/MB Exeter. Mitsubishi branded... MD3222 508 (made in Austria). Probably not the cheapest but I was in the area and it saved faffing around. Including the sump plug washer which smart bizzarely call a 'Full Face Gasket' it came to just over £8. TBH I could have spent a couple of quid driving around.  ;)

My filter sits pretty much flush with the bottom of the wheel arch, which I suppose is potentially a bit risky.

Wouldn't a thinner one either cause a restricted flow, or have to let bigger particles through?

Well, not sure what the problem is... something striking the filter and knocking it off? Has that ever happened to anyone? Guess it it is the air flow it acts like a mini oil cooler? Maybe a filter with fins on?

Are you not using Opie Oils ?

Very helpful and some good discount + offers for members.

(coopers filters tend to be quite stumpy)
