Hypermiling (for a change)
« on: August 11, 2012, 11:39:34 AM »

On my way to Blackburn from Bristol in the BRAB to pick up forfour for dad and been "taking it steady" to conserve fuel and we aren't in a rush...

This is my fuel usage and range as of Keel Services on the M6 just south of Manchester....

Let's see how it holds up for the rest of the journey :)

What a SH!T heap!!

Trid peppered to pieces, scratch down to the white on each arch, no passenger wiper arm, interior torn on drivers seat very badly, boot wouldn't open, key wouldn't unlock the car, v5 looked dubious, mot very dubious, carpet cut to pieces on transmission tunnel - and this was described as 8 out of 10!!!!

Oh well - dad is gutted!!!

Damn, sorry to hear that. Have experienced that, did a six hour round trip for a van that was so badly rusted, you could climb through the holes in it. In fact, you could lift the roof clean off. Described the same as yours - amazing example, 8/10... It's infuriating.

Hope you get what you want soon.

Gah!  What's the point of advertising a car as being in very good condition?  Do they think someone will turn up and believe "Oh this is normal on this car they're all like it"?

Actually yes, probably happens more than we'd like to think.

Home now - done just over 400 miles.

Speeds of about 60-75 and minor throttle changes. Faster on the way back and had to detour into a town to drop my dad at a train station to get train back to Essex.

All in all a waste of £150 of petrol and train fares and the guy moaned when I said I wanted my £200 deposit back saying they had to tax it and had missed out on sales - balls. If I don't get it back they will be getting a visit from trading standards over their dubious mot's ...

Don't tho I they were trying to rip us off and they said they would have knocked about £400 off. But it just didn't feel right anyway :(

Well beyond expectations!  I once read 46, but I was rolling down a hill in fifth with no throttle for about 6 miles without braking.

saw'd your other post and its a real shame that you went there to see the car your old mad was expencting to be 'mint' only to find it was a lemon.
i have to say iv been lucky when buying my (2) cars. bought my city coupe it was a shoit tip and when it was written off, it i think it was getting to the point where the engine needed rebuilding... it was the first car i went to see. my forfour, saw it on ebay and went to see it and payed the deposit and picked it up that weekend... shame that the garage didnt fill it with enough fuel to get me home... again the first one i went to see.

as for your mileage thats fantastic from a brab! im guessing it dropped on the way home as you were pissed of with the car you went to see

Really good mpg mate- puts my cdi to shame at times.

Sorry to hear the car was a dog. What a waste of time and such a disappointment. Plenty more fish .....
