Wonder if it will only be a 4 seat then as I need 5!  Be interesting on what they come up with though.

To be blunt... Renault-Nissan's involvement has turned me right off it.

My motoring history has included a number of Nissans (not quite a Skyline, but then if I had one of them I probably wouldn't be part of this club!!), and as soon as Renault's involvement came in so did..... you guessed it, common electrical faults!

Also, not only is Renault french, it is the reject french company incapable of being loved.

If you want any french company involved (which you don't as you don't want an inflatable airbed in the back and the whole car stinking of garlic), you'd want citroen with their cheeky hatchback, renowned suspension, yet butt ugly reputation.

no car is perfect, if you are looking at all cars in general some and most of them have engine problem.
this car has no problem with inside engine and have only some electronic problems after years, but the electronic is simple and the car is going normal without letting you in the middle of the road.
i had cars and most of them from the jobs that i had and mercedes diesel engines are very foible and well known as they do not crush if the water pump goes off after your accessory belt brakes at 180km/h and when you go to service the mechanic says "if was not the engine a mercedes one, you engine was trash"
for sure all the tests that they made in anwerp will give them a good feedback and hope they willproduce a better car with the same design !

Air is drawn into the cylinder of a diesel engine and compressed by the rising piston at a much higher compression ratio than for a spark-ignition engine, up to 25:1. The air temperature reaches 700-900 C, or 1300-1650 F.

The picture is a photshop job...not a real life car....
so don't go expecting it to be like the picture.

For a start, have any of you seen the latest FoTwo's ? You should have noticed that
the Smart 'chicken head' badge is now in the centre of the grill.....MB star style.
Not that I think it suits it.....others may disagree of course.

Well, re: the MB/smart/Renault/Nissan tie up there is so much of that going on now. Of course we all know about the ill fated MB/Chrysler situation and the MB/Mitsubishi one but there are many others... Toyota/PSA (Toyota Aygo/Peugeot 107/Citroen C1), Ford/FIAT (KA and 500), PSA/BMW(engines) FIAT/Chrysler (the new 'Chrysler' Delta, a rebadged Lancia, owned by FIAT) to name just four. Of course it's all about technology sharing in order to save money really. A bit of a hark back to those dreadfull days in the 60s/70s when British Leyland produced badge engineered clone versions of for example the Austin/Morris/MG/Wolseley/Riley/Vanden Plas 1100/1300s. I don't have a particular problem with Renault/Nissan. I wouldn't buy one but the technology and build quality of their modern cars seems good, and with MB/smart input I guess that things could be ok. We'll see.
