Yes very accurate, if at all a couple of mpg underestimates.. a full tank is how much? about 30 something litres and I would get 300miles so yeah about 45. The route was very flowy though, very few traffic lights and stay sub 65 through out. The journey home from work would always be 3-4mpg less howver, possibly due to a slight incline?

Hypermiling is an artform! ;)

Does your trip comp read ok? Mine is always about 8mpg below actual

The knock sensor is not all that magical. It's just a microphone that listens for a specific frequency. You can have pinging on one piston and the knock sensor may not detect it. Also, on an 8yr old car, they may be carbon deposits on the piston, that can cause auto-ignition, because they act like a glow plug. Appropriate fuel is an insurance against all this, running with inferior grade petrol is just like poking an angry bear with a stick.

Sure, it makes no difference for a N/A forfour in good working order to use 98ron, but on a brab it makes all the difference. Especially on a warm day, where you give it some!

And the tank is 40 something (47liters) so if you refill when the last bar shows up, you have gone through ~35L, that's ~7L/100kms, and 39MPG. If you go until the last bar is gone and starts showing in liters for reserve, than it's even worse.

Yup fuel tank is 42 litres plus 5 reserve.

I keep a spreadsheet of my fuel useage (there's another thread somewhere) and generally my computer is about 15-20% low. If it says 25mpg average, my calculations come to about 30mpg.

Strangely the last 3 trips I've done (which total 36 out of 136 miles on this fill up) have been over 35mpg on the computer, but my tank average still says 27.9 like it did 3 days ago.

i have filled my 1.1 with V-Power (super unleaded where v-power isnt available) since day one... on the 2 or 3 occasions iv had to top up iv used normal petrol and call me daft but i think it does make a diffrence and not in the wallet either.
i find that with v-power the step up when the vvt kicks in is smooth and seamless but with normal petrol there is a a sort of 'step' when it does kick in

I've used v power (and optimax before it) in ever car I've had from a 1.2 1989 micra to a 2.0T primera, and felt some minor difference in all of them. Whilst any performance might be a placebo effect, definitely the extra miles I got from it covered the additional cost of the fuel.

As for the knock sensor, as Alex says its not magical. I'd be inclined to use premium fuel simply because that's what the manual says. The engine is so highly tuned. Besides as has been said a couple of times before why would you have a brabus and then cheap out on running it properly?

That would be like me designing someone's party invites, and using Berol markers to colour them.
