Wahoo - congrats mate ;)

I recommend the recarro sport for just after he/she is out of baby carry seat but until then, most of them are much of a likeness.

Some has a base that the seat belt holds in place others just strap in but something that makes it easy with base etc is good.

It may all come with your travel system ;)

Finding a stroller that fits in is going to be the hardest. Or do what I did, use the wife's car until he was 9months old.

one has to bear in mind that we have my mums focus so ease of fitment would be nice (unfortunately it doesn't have ISOfix either)

Congrats to you and your dear wife mr.singh...
Shame you don't live close as I have a genuine Smart baby seat that I was very shortly
going to post up in the ForSale section. I bought it brand new for my grandson, and my
daughter used it for the first few months after my grandson was born....
(the baby out grew it in no time...Jake's now 1.5 years but he's now the size of a 2.5 - 3yr
old... big lad !). Anyway, the seat is very much like new.

Kate (lil.smartie) has given some good recommendations....   ;)

thanks for the congratulations guys... i haven't found out recently, its been a while (found out in January).

isnt there a list in the hand book of 'approved' baby seats. might have to look in the focus hand book and see which ones suit both....and are the seats of a standard size or vary for different car seats

Hi mr S. congrats to u all. I had a maxi cosi pebble seat that I used. It well rated in terms if safety and straightforward to fit via a seatbelt in the smart. For the Merc we used an is isofix base with the same seat.

mr singh you have 3 recommendations so far...
Graco, Recaro Sport, and Maxi Cosi Pebble.

Check them out as they may not be ok for a new baby.
I do know that the Recaro is for after the baby stage.
Be very aware of the fact that you will need to change
seat perhaps 6months after the 'new baby' stage...
And also....that the Hospital will not let you take the baby
home without the right car seat...even if you intend going
by bus or taxi !   I kid you not.

We had a Graco base in the mini we had (proper one, not BMW chuff) and that was great - really easy.

If you go to somewhere like Mothercare they will try car seats for you and recommend them.

Britax have a list on their website of what fits in which car, so you could try this too!

Congratulations to your newest family addition!

Hopefully you will find a good baby seat, or you could fit the isofix system.
You could even take out some piece of foam of the rear bench and install the plastic pieces.

Ermmm.... the ISO Fix is built into the seat.
You can't retrofit it as Smart do not sell it as parts.
The only option would be replace the seat with one from
another ForFour that has the ISO Fix already built in.

CrazyG at the dutch forum there was a guy who bought some isofix braces from Ford:
partnumber: F1357240

He made a some kind of manual from how to open the rear seat bench and installing the isofix braces onto the frame from a non standard isofix rear seat bench.

Can you take a look at this forumpage, I know it is in dutch.  But if you want I will make a small 'How to guide' by translating it and posting it on this forum with the pictures he made.
