Mirror indicator unit
« on: April 29, 2013, 09:11:31 PM »

I have managed to clip my wing mirror and the indicator unit is cracked now. The wing mirror is fine.

Anyone got a left side indicator unit for Sale or know where I can get one cheap? Don't  want to go to the dealers coz they rip you of!!!!

My cars a Brabus and I need the passenger side one. Will the indicator unit work from Non Brabus ForFour?

Can I replace the indicator unit or do I have to replace the whole wing mirror?

PS my car has passed MOT with flying colours -  :)

I had the same issue with my last forfour, both the indicator lense cap as well as the bulb inside were damaged. Very difficult part to get hold off as no one will sell you the bit you need without selling the whole mirror unit. I left it in the end as it was a auxillary indicator light so wont affect MOT. Try mercedes and let us know

Hmm... I think you're going to have to try Mercedes/smart. When I clipped my wing mirror on my old forfour I got an O/F unit from Smart of Edinburgh via the wonders of ebay. Took about an 1 hour or so to replace the little beggar!

Thirty quid, probably you're best bet to strip out the indicator unit.

For anyone reading this....
There are basically 2...no, let's make that 3....types of door mirrors for the ForFour.
1/ Manual
2/ Electric
3/ Electric + heated

(I don't think they did the manual ones with heated mirrors in them...but I could be wrong)

The door mirror assembly is made up of quite a few components, but the 5 major parts are....
(1) the door mounting 'block' or base (usually painted to match the door panel)
(2) the main body/shell assembly (usually black)
(3) the top 'cover' for the main body (often colour coded to match the door panels)
(4) the LED indicator lense unit
(5) the mirror glass.

Yes there are also adjuster knob + cables and other bits if it's manual, or the stator motor and
loom if it's an electric, but these are the 'variables' from the main parts of the assembly.

Any replacement parts for the main assembly (when obtainable) from MB, would have been in
plain ol' black......ready to be painted if necessary.
