again referring to my uncles previous cars, he had a 'G' reg Nissan Sunny which had done about or over 300,000 miles when he got rid which had never had a clutch.
its the soft squidgy bit behind the steering wheel that kills the clutch. i know of a customer who had SIX clutches within the first year of ownership and on the other hand had one owner that had clocked 106,000 miles when the gearbox came off as the release bearing had become noisy. the clutch was still good for several thousand miles but we advised and the customer agreed as the gearbox was off, to replace the clutch and fly wheel at the same time.
my 200k jaguar example, which coincidently was an auto was a case of how easy motorway miles can be clocked not a test of the transmission and drive line.
how do you think a car which is 8 years old can clock 133,000 without being say on the motorway? you can still drive it hard and not kill the clutch when on the motorway. i am in no way denying that the clutch might want renewing but with that mileage i can be fairly confident that it will have lots of life left in it.
