MOT no luck
« on: September 15, 2015, 06:37:25 AM »

G'day there,
Went for an MOT today but no luck,  1 steering knuckle had a bit of play so have to get it renewed, so will try again next week when its fixed, for the rest only the left back shock absorber was damp so that will be the next to be fixed  hopefully it can be fixed with Mitsubishi colt,  any advice on this. thanx.
Greetings  Eddie

Sorry to hear it failed the test.
The Colt is a heavier 'beast' so the shocks may give a firmer
ride, which may or may not be noticeable....but if you can get
them for the right price...go for it.
Oh, and like springs and tyres (on the same axle)...always fit in pairs.

Thanx for your reply CrazyG
I am glad to hear the colt parts will fit as the ff is here as scarce as hens teeth.  Colts of that era are around so when I need the shockers I will hopefully be able to get them.
Thanks for your help.
Greetings ,
Eddie

Colt front shocks only work on brabus, rears are universally compatible.

Standard Forfour shocks work on everything (universal donor). ;D

Don't know what model you have steddie eddie, i just chimed in because i once made the mistake of ordering colt front shocks and then found out they are useless on my forfour because they lack the mounting point for the ARB drop link.

Like i did with V40 260mm disks and calipers, they don't work either as a rear brake upgrade because the hat on the disc is taller and the caliper won't mount over the disk with either volvo or smart carriers...

Hi Alex,  Thanx for your reply
I do have a 2004 ff 1.5l passion with now just over 86000km on the clock,  its a pleasure to drive and I like to keep it that way.
You also think that colt rear chocks will fit the forfour.
Thanx again.
Greetings Eddie.

Yes, rear shocks are compatible between all colt and forfour models, though obviously you'd want to chose a set from an equivalent model, not have the sport CZT shocks if you don't have the sports suspension.

I have Kayaba rear shocks for colt, as well as colt springs all around, only the front shocks i kept the original smart ones.

Hi Alex and thanx again for your reply,
I will keep in mind not to get the CZT sport shocks when the time comes and that ll be next years mot I think.

 Eddie.
