Fitting an FMIC to a CZT is relatively speaking 'a piece of cake'.
Fitting one to a ForFour is totally different as there is not the
space available behind the front end as it curves in in all the
places that it doesn't on a CZT, and is; dare I say it; the devil's
own job to mount it above the crash bar, lket alone under the
crash bar....which is where the CZT one is mounted.
Yes it is possible, but I doubt anyone who has fitted one above the
crash bar has bothered to take any measurements or angles.
It has always been a case of cut here, try that, try again etc etc.
Invariably it ends up with the fog light on the nearside being rendered
useless as some of it has to be cut away to get the pipework in !
However I can announce that S2Smarts have with a lot of time and
effort managed to fit an FMIC below the crash bar on a road going
Brab with very little cutting of the front end...AND they have
managed to retain the n/s foglight/indicator.
Rob admits that it was a nightmare of a job; being the first one
they had ever done; but now they know how to do it they are
offering the same service to customers on a 'supply n fit' cost of
£600 inc VAT.
Sounds a lot,eh ? BUT...if you consider that for an 'above the crash bar'
job in DIY form you are talking £130+ for the Mishimoto I/C,
then roughly £250-300 for the pipes, joiners, silcone hoses and
plain jubilee type clips. (The pipes won't be swagged, so the hoses
can slide off if sufficient pressure is applied !).
Just that little lots come to a figure circa £380+....and that is without
your time and effort/labour fitting it.
What price experience then ?
Oh, and S2 use top notch 'SFS' components, with swagged joiners,
4 ply hoses, and 'double strength' aircraft quality hose clamps...
which are more reliable but a bit more expensive than usual.
