i would ask your insurance company if it affects your premium - if not then make the claim and they will chase his insurance for the money and your excess

its not a police matter unless he left the scene

i have been told even telling your insurance company and not taking the claim further than that will affect it in some way

how were you ever going to recoup the money?

you could tell the police that he gave you a false contact number but you have his reg. You can always just ring the 101 number as you are asking

if not - you have to soak up the costs

the original plan was to get a price and then contact him, but after i got the price i checked the information i had and no contact number

i did find his Facebook profile so i could sent a message on Facebook messenger but that might come across as creepy and weird.

it looks like i might just have to absorb the cost of £109 for the unit, the price that i was given might have been miss herd by myself as i phoned from work and the noise in the work shop may have made me hear the price wrong... unless someone knows a PI...

you are the only person who has said to contact him through Facebook, the other 2 who iv told, my sister and an old colleague who i have a huge amount of respect for, have said not to Facebook him as it may be creepy.

Might be creepy but is a method of getting in touch. Do you have the persons address ? Are they local ?

i assume the lads local, how local i dont know as people come from over just the road to tesco and they come from south leeds...

as for his address, he refused to give me it.

If he refused to give you address then I'd say that's leaving the scene of an accident and a police matter

if he hasn't replied within a week you can say that you will be contacting the police as he left the scene of an accident without leaving his details

turns out he recently passed his test and he lives walking distance from me
