don't buy off reg transfers unless you have checked DVLA first....!!

all those places that advertise in the back of car mags just print off the numbers from
dvla and add £150 to the price !

take pics and post up the surrounds in the for sale folder ! i have BRAB ones

iv found what car my X21 NSL plate is on. some chave has it on his/her des-Astra SRI+  
and its not on the DVLA's site (M751 NGH). dont think my dad will want me getting a private plate anyway

I've been looking as well and like you, not a fan. But on a Smart it seems to work. People expect a quirky plate. So, I was looking for a Fortwo specific plate, something London, urban, and with 451 in it.... guess what.....

I found this, B451 LDN

Only thing is, it spells "Basildon", not something I'd like to advertise!!!

Ok - I'm worried now!!

As the member Br4bus said he has a new BRAB with a numberplate BR0*BUS I am concerned that the one I have bought could not be legit

I have only paid a small deposit at the moment, the guy had good feedback on eBay and has sold a lot of plates before!

Not sure how he could buy an 04 plate on 3/11/2003. I don't fully understand the whole thing really, but it seems iffy anyway.
jj do check your card account as you've done a cardholder not present transaction.

The document isn't a V5c though - it's a certificate of entitlement to a vehicle registration.

You can own one without a vehicle but the date of the document is random - I just assumed that he bought it up before release in march 04 (which I know you can do)

Also, the document number does tie in!!

I paid through paypal so I sent money - he does not have my card details!

I also googled him before I bought and seemed legit and no bad press on him!

Hi,
Don't worry about the document, regarding the two points the date of agreement was
when the reg was first released.

The DVLA release registrations to the general public a few months before they can
actually be put on a vehicle.
The second point is that if the reg is on retention every year it costs £25 per year.
I have sent the document off to the DVLA to have your name added and the retention
date up dated. When it comes back it will have your name as the nominee and the date
the reg must be assigned to a vehicle will change to 28/2/11.

Please do not worry, as soon as the document comes back I will scan/email so you can
check the details yourself.

It can take a couple of weeks for the document to come back from the DVLA and I will
keep you informed at all times.

I have bought and sold many registrations and can help if you need any advice with
transfering the reg onto your car.

Glad you feel better about it now I must say I'm fascinated about the investment
planning. Buy a reg number and sit on it for seven years at £25 per year.
Probably beats most banks and insurance companies hands down!!
If you ever sell the Brab jj you've got the choice of factoring the plate into the selling
price or keeping it yourself, but you did say investment in the first place.

get the manual B-class. the auto is RUBBISH!! i drove an auto B-class which was traded in at work and i was amazed to find out it was a CVT gearbox!
it was like driving a hover craft
