So, I'm  curious. Most people want to have their Brabus forfours remapped for extra power. However I think that 177BHP is plenty as it is! So I'm wondering if it's possible to have a remap to improve the economy? Perhaps I'll contact S2 smarts but in the meantime I just wondered if anybody had any thoughts/opinions?

Far cheaper to alter your driving style if economy is needed. I've found the Brab can be remarkably economical when driven off boost.
Standard map runs fairly rich at the top end I think and can probably be leaned out a bit, but never going to be economical driven hard. I don't think any map is going to alter the off boost economy much if at all.

Maybe you bought the wrong car its a hot hatch not a economy car and its only a 1.5 , really can you ask for more MPG from a performance car compare it with other hot hatches and you will realise its very good on fuel, like Greg said drive it off boost but you may as well get a diesel Brabus look alike.

Tyre width, wheel size etc can have a major effect on fuel economy as well. I agree style of driving has the biggest effect. The 44 is relatively light and this also keeps dynamics good and keeps the economy.
You could always try tuning a diesel. I hear crazy G's requires attention even from those in Brabus'.

No, no, I haven't bought the wrong car! I realise that compared to 'some other hot hatches' the Brab is pretty good economy wise. I'm not interested in 'out and out performance' I just like the look and image of the Brab. I don't drive like a granny but in these times I do need to watch the pennies. Anyway, easy guys, it was only an enquiry!

the performance map gives you better economy if you can resist pressing the go pedal

But the go pedal makes a great noise! TBH, keep it slow and progressive with as high a gear as the car can handle, the OOB Brabus map should be enough to get some relatively decent MPG out of it.

there are soooo many techniques for hypermiling

mostly its best to stay in a gear that only requires £1 coin throttle

being in 5th at 30mph and burying the throttle to get up a slight incline is bad

but the most effective is planning ahead - coming to a standstill is bad for mpg
