I can confirm that the SnapOn 'Modus' is not capable of doing
what an MB Star can do, in fact; in capability terms; it can only
achieve about 1/8th of the level of diagnosis and actions of the
MB Star...and it most certainly cannot do a clutch re-teach for
any of the Smart model range.
How do I know this...
The guy who developed was an old friend of Rob at S2smarts, and
he visited Rob with the finalised pre-production test model of the
Modus, as he asked Rob if he wouldn't mind organising a few Smart's
to try the machine out on, to see what it could do and how it fared.
At the time, the cars provided were one of Rob's 450 (ForTwo's),
a Roadster, a 451, and a 454 CDI AMT that I owned at the time and
were at S2 and available.
Testing soon showed up the vast capability differences between
the machines, which was quite surprising as the SnapOn was a big
step up from previous machines not only in capabilty but also; dare
I say it; the price of it as well ! It had to be honest fared really well
according to the guy on every other make and models from other
manufacturers, but it had not done well on the other vehicles of
the MB range that it had been tested on.
So, as per
Problemchild's previous post...
of course the sales man will say it does it
just like those who say they can map a brabus
