Laying up 454 cdi
« on: July 30, 2017, 09:40:03 PM »

I will be laying up my cdi 454 in early November until the end of April . Any guidance on winterising it so it will be ready for use in April ? It will be locked in the garage for this period. Anything to do to the alternator ? I will disconnect the battery and fully charge it . Raise the wheels off the ground ? Any guidance very much appreciated.

no hand brake obviously

i'd put a moisture absorbing silica gel pack in there as you don't want any damp allowing moisture

i laid my saxo up for 6months when i worked in the USA for a bit, best for the car was to insure my friend and ensure he took it out once a week.

Battery on trickle charge. Turn over engine on starter motor in order to stop air con seals drying out. Fresh concentrated antifreeze. Replace brake oil and engine oil before driving it again. Lift wipers off screen. Make sure no light gets to tyres.
Genuinely though: getting someone to drive it, until warm, down the road a little is the best way to do it.
