Santa Pod
« on: October 02, 2017, 10:14:00 PM »

Evening All.

Had a few runs at Santa Pod yesterday!
Really shows that, even with all the mods, running a stock map just doesn't cut it.
Could have got into the 14's with a decent start.

2nd run, the gearstick went floppy and I was stuck in 2nd (still beat the other car!).
I was preparing the speech for my wife / ready to sign the divorce papers when a Colt member suggested the ball joint under the stick. Low and behold, it had come loose! Talk about a close call!

A video of the run taken my a TurboColt member -

And the Santa Pod footage -

Note his disappointment at the time lol!

Cool  :) I've done a few runs there, 14.8 @ 98mph was my best. (Full tank of fuel timed refill badly!)
I found it hard to get off the line well, my 60ft times were shocking.

I now appreciate how hard it is. I thought driving in a straight line would be a doddle :)

Did you get a timing slip? what were your 60ft times? lowering the front tyre pressures would have probably helped, I couldn't be bothered to faff personally.

I like how the santa pod footage follows you down the strip.

Didn't bother with the slip. I'm not one for momentos, only the experience :)
I think the only reason it followed was because the other guy was that far behind!
We did have a great chat afterwards though. Another guy who thought, just because she's got a smart car badge on, she would be slow!

Nice to see it being used and more importantly- enjoyed.
Forfours are one of the ultimate q cars. So few know it exists.

Now just imagine how much better it would go/do
once it is mapped to take advantage of all the stuff
that you have endowed it with.....
