Computer Display asking for Date of Manufacture?!
« on: October 04, 2017, 12:26:05 PM »

My wife parked the car last night, and while letting the turbo cool down I thought I’d run through the computer display options (which I still don’t understand how to operate..) and then:

1. it first asked me for the calendar month, and in my trial and error of pressing buttons to try and exit this page (that I’d not seen before)..

2. it then asked me something about the date of manufacture?!

I wish I paid more attention, but my wife was then whining about how cold she was (!) so I switched off and left it there.

Any idea what happened here, or what it means?

Cheers o/

I'd need to go and check on mine but I am pretty sure the speedometer computer doesn't ask for the date of manufacture. It definitely does have a date in there where if you take the battery lead off, it'll default to 01.01.2003. The date thing is largely pointless in the context of this because it doesn't do anything consequential as far as I can make out.

Yep, you pressed the page buttons on the wheel and then on the arrows, and you navigated through the date and time settings.

The manual is quite helpful in explaining these and is pretty small compared to others so it's worth a browse through.

It isn’t the date of Manufacture... just the date! If you want to know about the functions of the display check with your owner manual... it’s all in there!  ;)

Ha ha..

I HAVE read the manual, a couple times. I am just silly you see, and haven’t found the functions part to make sense in my head :-)

I’m pretty sure the display did say “manufacture” however.. hmm. I will check it again later and see if I can recreate the moment!

Recreate the moment.....   :o  ???  >:(    WHY ?

Why give yourself a problem or create a problem...just set the date
that it is today or whatever day it is that you get round to doing it.

So pleased that I have poorest ForFour model with even - no date available to setup on dashboard.
But... can do setup hours. Awesome. Even my watch shows me current date/time in every place in the world.

If there is any problem with Smart computer/dashboard it's time and moment to install Tesla panel in ForFour?

Quite a few Passion specification 454's didn't have this in either, it was a optional extra that even a Pulse could have specified I think. I had to retrofit mine into my Passion, my last 454 had it from factory.

Getting a bit off topic but I've got the video in to my COMAND unit wired in. With a bit of wiring fidelity, I am sure I could run a Raspberry PI through it. Had a independent version running in my old City-Coupe/Fortwo at one point.

I'd be very interested in anything you can do to it. I have the first version of the Command nav and can't play videos either.

The maybe not cheapest unless you already have decent tablet is... yea, fix tablet to middle panel.

It will require decent skill and hours of hand work with dremel but I think it's worth it. Later it's just drilling two 3mm holes in the back of tablet body for power source and audio cables.

Brilliant idea as already you have Wi-Fi, BT, 4G, GPS, big LED touch screen, ECU connection, any application you want from games and google maps to Torque Pro and other ECU readers.

Wanted to do that in my CDi, but had/have no tablet and good Pioneer radio with BT was much cheaper than tablet. Can't complaint.
It's not Smart but can give idea how it looks:

Okay...okay...we are now getting way off the original topic now,
so any further posts on this must relate to the original thread.....
or they will be deleted by the Moderators, ok.
