2005 smart forfour BRABUS airbag module and senors discussion?
« on: September 19, 2018, 06:37:30 PM »

Hi the airbag module with one sensor has been diagnosed as faulty and needing to be replaced. I have searched and read other articles here where possible, however, I would like to learn more about this subject where the main airbag control unit is located and where the sensors are?  I believe that two sensors are in the front bumper location and two are on the sides of the car?

Do others have experience of dealing with this repair at all? There is currently one airbag control unit in the UK and fifty more in Germany. Parts:

A4548203526 (control unit.). £241.00 + vat.
A4544540017  (sensor.).       £60.00 or £65.00.

I know that Mercedes-Smart possible charge more for their labour than say, independents, although Mercedes parts pricing has improved.

I am based near Southampton and will gladly travel to an independent who are both appreciated and trusted by members here?

Thanks again for a valuable site and also for all the many questions answered per forum and direct messages!  :)

Oh, we own 2 old 450 Fortwo Brabuses and one old forfour Brabus which are kept tip top and never let us down!  :)

I presume it was an MB Dealer who diagnosed the fault ?

Did they show you the code on the screen on the Star machine ?
And did they then show you the explanation for the code ?
Assuming they did, did they give you a quote to fix it all ?

Anyway, why not give Kate (lil.smartie) a call at SmartSport on
01749 347777   which is an Independant not too far from you based
at Shepton Mallet and have a word/discussion on your 'possible' issue.

Hi, CrazyG thanks again for your help! Yes, codes were shown. We take all our Smarts to Paul & Kate who are excellent. However, possible, this time, we might consider going closer to home:

Jon the owner was good on the phone and was able to discuss with him immediately after ringing them once. I will let you know the verdict.  :)
