I found that same issue with LED's that I fitted in the sidelights
of both my Brab and my 451.
Best to fork out for good quality CANBus LED's.

There are many cross company royalty payments, and much more joint product co- operation than most people  realise

Which brings me back to wondering why heated windscreens aren't yet universal.  If paying licences is commonplace, and given the usefulness of the heated screen, how come the manufacturers haven't bought the rights and fitted them?  Considering the range of sprays and scrapers on sale from Halfords, supermarkets, petrol stations, and so on, making frosty mornings easier would be a definite selling point.

Hyundai get round it by having a very quick & effective screen defrost control that seemingly utilises Hurricane Andrew or similar with almost instantly warm air from who knows where when the car has only just been started

Ford HAD a patent on a thin wiggly heated window element that reduced the eyes tendency to focus on it. Heated front windscreens have been around for many many years. Rolls, Range rovers are two that I have checked. Never said they were as good though!
Seems like a compromise between visibility and battery discharge when needed - and visibility- seeing through the mesh when not needed.
My experience (with a Ford) was that I didn't like it in low sun conditions but in frost it was really useful.
The Hyundai or some aftermarket ceramic blowers seem a reasonable idea as long as thermal stress point of the glass is not exceeded!

I never found the in-screen wires on my Mondeo intrusive at all.  I was actually permanently surprised by the way that although they were easy to see when focussing on them, whether inside or outside the car, they disappeared completely when looking out through them onto the road ahead.  Not once did I find my vision focussed on them when I didn't want to.  To be honest, I'd like a car with heated glass all round and do away with scraping altogether.

The shower eh ?  ;)
I knew what you meant Mr.'Smug' E.V.Carowner  :P

Now we have gone waaaayyy off topic. I'm considering splitting off a
new topic of 'Heated Windscreens' with comments made on this thread...
(which was initially about Headlamp bulbs !)

Charge up using solar panels and a power wall, and the govt. can whistle for it.

I hope that isn't an oblique reference to an engine fire.  Do tell more.

Doubtful....it was usually the Lotus Elan's that had that problem...
as well as the Lotus Cortina when one removed the cover plate
that was fitted to the airbox around the carburettor bellmouths..
so one could hear that heavenly growling roar when accelerating.
Do that and those rough n ready Weber carbs didn't half spit back
something chronic, as well as dribble fuel from the bellmouths at
even the best of times.
Cured mine when I saved all my pennies and changed them for a
pair of 45 Dellorto's.... 3 jet setup (Webers had just 2), they were
far more fuel efficient and gave a better power delivery.
Still sounded the same...Ah, the memories come flooding back.

I have run Weber cabs on all my older competition cars, and found them easy to tune My hill climb car runs a single Weber 500 four barrel and that and the manifold change gave 13 BHP straight out of the box relative to the twin 1.75 inch SUs fitted previously .Triple Webers on my TR6 engined GT6 gave even greater benefit over the Stronberg s fitted before .My RS3100 engined Scimitar GT also ran a 4 barrel downdraft Weber and that wasn't the fire risk, it was the alternator and the overdrive that were the danger on those badly made cars. Spitback wasn't  a problem with we'll set up Webers, and clean air filters were an essential part of that

First of all the retaining spring had fallen off after he released it and could not be found. He emerged from the shop with a new spring but had the devils own job fitting it back on and getting it secured over the bulb.

I still remember when it happend to me; it is a nightmare. Remember kneeling in the dark next to the front wheel arch, my wrist at a killing angle, XXL hands trying to fit that light bulb opening, neck hurting, googling images of the H7 setup trying to mount that small spring back into place. It is indeed a nightmare when it happens.
