« on: December 03, 2010, 06:09:48 PM »

Just found this article that I thought others would like to read, looks like Smart will be joining Renault for future cars.

Does that mean we can finally have our own back on the ForTwo owners who say the ForFour isnt a 'proper smart'?

A lot of people already say that the 451 isn't a real smart.

why, because the engine is 1 inch to the front on the original 450 engines position?
or is it because it has a 'bigger' engine made by the same manufacture that made/makes the forfour engines?

i have been on a couple of times and thought about saying 'give up JJ' but then thought 'just let him have his fun'. im surprised its gone on for so long!
i dont think all the 450's will fully scrapped. some owners will possibly keep them under cover and bring them out when the weather is good, you know like classic cars.
i was going to keep my 450 and buy another car if it came to it but the situation changed!

I'm loving it ;)

My face comments....

1) A forfour isn't a smart because it doesn't have 3 bolt wheels
2) A lambourghini isn't powered by Audi drive train
3) the very adult "Who the fcuk are you" (when ladyV came in with her awesome slating)

I am not stressed at all......if the 450 owners don't likethe forfour then that's cool and if they want to alienate us from the smart scene then they can try but it won't happen!

It's just funny how someone makes a claim, I counter and then they go quiet until their little brains have thought of some new crap fact to make up :)

and how a 23yr old can dictate on smart ownership is beyond me - especially when they have chosen to call their car mrpoo - teehee ;)

Sorry.... Off topic!!

And they haven't banned you yet?

Everybody thought I got wound up with the constant belittling of the forfour on maniacs and other smart forums but it was more fun seeing how wound up and low fortwo owners would go while I stayed calm.

Apparently a smart should be mid-rear (well they say rear) mounted engine with rwd thats the deffinition according to the same turd. ;)

Maybe we should have a poll on here to see who graduated from Fortwo ownership and who just went for Forfours on the car's individual merits. From my perspective the Fortwo only evokes very mild interest in the colour schemes I see, the actual car I'm sorry does very little for me.
The Forfour attracted me because of it's good looks, rarity, practicality, quality, economy and it's early marketing as a mini Mercedes.
It is amusing to see some Fortwo owners reactions though as I've got a bit of a wind up history too.
What I do regret is the dropping of the exchangeable panels concept by Smart for Forfours. If some enterprising bodyshop could get a few sets of body panels and spray them to order and exchange them for your panels I'm sure there would be a good market. As you would leave your old panels behind I think they would soon be rather busy.

sorry to stay off topic  ::)
