What vehicle will the Brabus engine go into...
« on: May 31, 2020, 06:06:18 PM »

What vehicles will the Brabus engine go into without much work?

Anything that came with the Mitsubish 4G15 engine? Like the Proton Satria GTi or Jumbuck?

Interested to hear of any engine transplants that have been done...

(In addition to the vehicles/models already mentioned...)

From Proton range      :- The Saga, the Iswara, the Arena,
                                      and the Wira.
From Mitsubishi range :- The Eclipse (America), the Mirage,
and the Maven..a rebadged Suzuki APV

Note:- the 4G15 engine came in many 'versions', not just
the 4G15T (16v) that was fitted to the Brabus 454/CZT-CZCT.

There were 8 valve, 12 valve, and 16 valve 4G15 engines used
certain models listed in the ranges at the top. One would have to
make your own investigations into each for more specific details
for each model and the year/s that they were fitted.
(Try Wikipedia....)

Of note:-
There was a 'copycat' engine made by another manufacturer....
the Hyundai 'Sirius' engine is essentially a copy of the 8 valve
version of the 4G15 engine.

B U T....
going back to the first line of the initial post here...
What vehicles will the Brabus engine go into without much work?.....

That would depend on what you mean by 'without much work'.
There would be considerable work required to get the 16v MIVEC
engine to work in any of the listed vehicles if they did not have an
ECU that could work with it, or trying to 'plumb in' the Brabus ECU
into a loom that it was not designed for.....even without considering
if that loom was CANBus or had every loom connection necessary.
I suppose that it could or would be possible to 'cannabalise' né adapt
the complete loom from a Brabus....OR....make a complete change
and go for a 'standalone' ECU  system. Initially that idea isn't that
expensive, however getting it coded (as in engine mapping) and to
all work properly is something best left to the experts, and that DOES
take time and money.

If anyone is seriously considering going as far as 'standalone' then
a call to Rob at S2 might be wise...to find out a 'ball park' figure
of what it has cost to go down that route for the Racing Brabus.
