Hi,

I wonder if Smart forfour's imobiliser can be disable?
I have mechanical key to open the door, turn car ON, but not able to start the engine, the key "t" on the dashboard

The remote key with fob starts engine even without battery, anyone know why?

I presume you have just a 'blade key' (mechanical) as someone may have lost a key and paid for the 'blade key' but couldn't afford the programming and also a standard remote fob

I doubt the 'blade key' has the chip in it that the car "recognises" as the right key and thus turns off the immobiliser !

The "chip" or whatever it's called does not need power (a guy at work had to buy a new key and ended up with the chip from his old key taped to the OUTSIDE of his new fob !)

Most immobilisers use RFID which requires no internal power as it is powered wirelessly through a pair of coils.
The immobiliser cannot be turned off or bypassed and any talk of such a thing unfortunately will result in the topic being closed
as any discussion on the matter could affect the security of the member's cars.
