Mot can tell you about up coming bills there is one brabus with notes about rear bushes which I understand is costly, also one out there with a lot of advisories about rust on struts and suspension. Again expensive.
one tester may note the rear bushes where as the next year they may not pick up on them.
my red 1.1 had an advisory for rear spring corroding yet they looked in good condition.
my SB3 had advisories for spring corroding, the following year nothing.
what one tester sees may not be seen by another or even picked up the following year.
the MOT certificate isnt worth the paper it is printed on. the paper is probably worth more, this is the EXACT quote, word for word an MOT tester told me. a car could drive out with a pass and down the road and a bulb might blow... iv even known owners swap wheels with good tyres and then swap them back just to get a pass. one tester told me he knew an owner who bought a pair of lower arms, showed and assured the tester that they would be replaced, the following year, it failed on the same items by the SAME tester. turns out the owner bought the arms, told the tester that they would be replaced, and then returned the lower arms once he got the pass certificate.
iv had it where our MOT test station has failed a car on play in suspension parts and when we have serviced it no play was found.
MOT history means diddly squat!
