Yes strange is definitely a word to use as I don't think the alarm is working now.

I pulled out fuse 28 and nothing happened. When I lock the car I get two flashing lights on the dash, one lock light flashing and one movement alarm sensor flashing but at double the speed of the lock light.

I expected the alarm to go off but it didn't... When I lock the car the indicators flash as they did before.

Now I'm wondering if there is another way to reset everything on the car.

I can't find a door switch anywhere on the doors that other cars tend to have. Is there a different kind of sensor?

not all manufactures have separate door switched. the only manufacture that fits a separate door switch is Honda and Toyota (that i have seen), the majority of the rest have them built in to the door latch itself and as a result if the door close switch fails it will not allow the door(s) to lock as the car will see a 'Door open' message even though the door is fully latched and closed. more often than not the car WILL NOT lock if there is a faulty door latch, and it is often the case that the drivers door latch is the one at fault as its the door that is opened and closed the most.

i would strongly recommend that you have the codes read using the proper Mercedes STAR diagnostics, as it will do 80% more than a generic/Snap On/MAC Tools etc. code reader.

....When I lock the car I get two flashing lights on the dash, one lock light flashing and one movement alarm sensor flashing but at double the speed of the lock light....

You should only get 2 lights flashiong on the dash if someone has pressed either
the 'car on a tilt'.. or .. 'car on the level'  buttons on the centre panel.
So, check to see if you can see either of them flashing when the car is unlocked...
and if there is...press whichever of the buttons is flashing briefly and it should
then go out.  Then try locking the car, and unlocking it.

Next, lock the car using the keyfob....
Then open the passenger side door using the key in the handle lock, and by
rights the alarm should go off...hopefully.
Disarm/unlock the car using the keyfob.

Now see if the interior lights work as they should when you open the door/s.

It's all worth a try.......

Thanks for the reply. Tried your suggestion, no joy.

The alarm tilt and movement buttons are not lit when unlocked. Pressed the buttons just to be sure, they do flash when pressed. Anyway, with those buttons off, lock the car... Movement button flashes as well as lock button.

Alarm does not go off when opening passenger door with key.

Feels like the car is dying 🤣

Before doing any major work I do disconnect the battery. But maybe somehow I did fry something. I did put in an aftermarket stereo, which does fully work. +12v tap was connected to accessory socket so I didn't touch anything with etacs
