aftermarket Rev counter
« on: April 05, 2023, 09:15:40 PM »

Hello everyone,
Newbie here,
am after some advice please.
Purchased a smart Forfour last weekend, 0.9 Turbo "17" plate. but it DIDNT come with the rev counter on the right hand side (not sure if its just not included in the model)
But i like them and so was wondering if its possible to add one?   , I've seen them on ebay for 129 quid and looks easy to fit but I have been told it requires a software enabling (this is what im not sure about)
Any tips or anyone done this ?    or should i get a different Rev counter.

As so many modern cars have all their electrics controlled by CANBus I think there is  high possibility that a rev counter would need to becompatible...meaning it would need to be 'enabled'.
I suggest you check with a Smart independant specialist to confirm this; as well as the cost to enable it;  preferably before buying a rev counter.
