Why the difference in the manuals for the oil amount?
« on: December 11, 2024, 08:52:47 PM »

I downloaded the Smart Forfour manuals, plural meaning I got the Portuguese and the English version.

Funny thing is that the Portuguese one says that for example my version, the 1.1 has 3.2 liters of capacity when changing the oil and the English version states 3.5, so 0.3ltrs difference. And it's not just for mine, that increment goes for all the engines.

Does anyone know why? I always went with the 3.2 when doing the change and of course controlling the amount on the dipstick, but it's really weird this difference between the manuals.

Could it be that like the US pint, is different to EU pint, so changing to litre would be different.

Being as Christmas is 'on our doorsteps' I've not had or got the time
to take a quick looksee in the Manual in the car footwell of any of my
454's to see if it gives the oil capacity for either my Brab or CDi to
then compare with the downloadable manuals.....

Anyone fancy having a look in their actual 'paper' Owners Manual...?

All figures show in liters.
