Mystery clip
« on: January 07, 2025, 06:42:01 PM »

I found this in the glovebox of my new 454.  I'm resisting putting it in the bin for now.  Does anyone know where it goes?  Looks like a picture of a key.

That is the plug that goes into the key hole on the passenger front door. To stop dirt getting in. By the way that is my old car does the rear wiper work. As in the advert for the car it looked broken.

Hey.  Thanks for explaining this.  Pleased I didn't bin it!  I will give the lock a but of oil and reinstall the blank.

The rear wiper was broken but I replaced it.

Good little car this!  It was at S2 Smarts a few days ago for a service.  All good apart from very worn discs and tyres a bit old-- both on my radar.

I took it apart but the casing cracked while I drifted the centre spindle out.  It has a cheap Chinese one on which is working so far.  Might add some extra lubrication after winter to give it a longer life.

Get some grease lube in/on the shaft ASAP, even before the end of winter.

The casing is to be honest a poor quality alloy..akin in a way to white metal !
SO...any wetness/moisture that can get between the steel drive shaft/spindle
and the casing will easily contain microscopic 'bits' of dirt etc or even SALT
which will start corrosion/reaction on the contact surfaces of the shaft & casing.

Prevention is better than cure, and the sooner the better.
