My mpg is down around 24mpg around town but it's so much fun !

I get around 200miles from a £50 fill up

I'm gonna start putting whisky in instead - it's cheaper !!

I'm with JJ but I did sign. Reality is that high fuel prices are here to stay. I would
predict that it will hit £1.50 per litre within a few years, at that point you may see
some leveling off.

I have noticed the impact on my car fleet. In 2005 I was driving a Mondeo ST220 and
a Capri 2.8i, I now drive a ForFour diesel and a Fiesta diesel as a company car.

My only reasoning behind this (and it may be niaive) is that the Government are
talking about this fuel duty stabiliser being introduced to control the price at around
£150 per litre. Could be complete bobbins though.

if it goes any higher than £1.50, so many transport companies will move
over to Europe and the govt will lose loads of revenue !

What gets me is on the news yesterday that fuel in Europe in the past four weeks has actually dropped 4 - 5%,
while ours has still crept up. The difference locally is mad though.
You can still get diesel at a few places for £128.9 but quite a few places are charging £134.9.

Why are these places still in business ?

They are still in business because some people don't know they could get it cheaper elsewhere...
or they have company fuel accounts.
An idea that these 'protestors' should follow is to put up placards/banners/peops with
banners near the expensive petrol stations, telling peops they can get it cheaper at
garage 'X' and to stop and get directions if they want them.

Boycotting those stations is the only way the message will sink in.

But as to why we don't get the benefit of the lower cost like they do in Europe.....
simple...
we don't protest or are not allowed to get away with the way they protest in Europe. Fact.
Remember the French blockading the ports...their Police stood by and let it happen,
yet when it was tried here they got the 'Fuzz' to break it up....on the orders of the
biggest money grabbers...the politicians.
You know...the one's we voted in to do our bidding.....Yeah right !

Now that is an idea I like. I always use petrol prices UK and just assume everyone does
